The personnel in the Finance Department of City of Americus are proud to serve the citizens of Americus. We are located in the former SB&T branch bank. The Department manages the City’s financial resources and safeguards its assets through appropriate controls and accounting practices. Our Department provides a number of services to include paying all the City of Americus’ vendors, payroll, utility billing, administration of property taxes, collections, preparation of the annual budget and audit documents, annual financial statement preparation, and all accounting functions. We provide most services through our drive thru and inside with our Customer Service Representatives. We have a representative that is fluent in Spanish to assist our Spanish population.
Our property tax information is provided by the Sumter County Tax Assessor’s office. We use this information to ensure that we properly bill property owners for taxes. 2015 Property Tax payments are due to our office by close of business on Monday, Dec. 28, 2015, to avoid interest and penalties. Please contact us if there are concerns about your property taxes via email, in person, telephone or fax.
We bill all utility services and provide assistance with inquiries, questions, or concerns. We have drop boxes located at the following locations: Rubos on Ga. Highway 30, Lee Street entrance of the Municipal Building parking lot, and at the entrance of the Customer Service Center. We offer discounts for our senior utility customers and an equal payment plan option for our natural gas customers. Please contact us for additional information on these services.
