WARNER ROBINS — Catherine Smith Bowers passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 11, 2016.
Mrs. Bowers was born on April 21, 1942, in Americus, Georgia, to the late James Clayton Smith and Georgia Smith Ross. A graduate of Americus High School, she was employed by Southern Bell Telephone Co. and later became employed with Robins Federal Credit Union from where she retired.
Catherine married the late David Edward Bowers and together they raised their boys for 43 wonderful yeshe had the honor of serving as Lady Catherine. Mrs. Bowers was also a longtime member of Central Baptist Church. Her hobbies were crocheting and collecting teddy bears, but her favorite pastime was being “Nana” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was the loving mother of Timothy “Tim” Goolsby and Michael “Mike” Goolsby, both of Warner Robins, Gregory “Greg” Goolsby of Forsyth, and Edward “Eddie” Bowers of Warner Robins. Mrs. Bowers is also survived by her grandchildren, Kaycee Crumpton (Kirk) of Perry, Callie, Drew and Hayden Goolsby of Forsyth; great-grandchildren, Bella Rasky, Michael Goolsby, and Kennedy Crumpton; sister, Brenda Hodes (David) of Centerville; brother, James Smith (Cathy) of Big Canoe, Georgia; and the extended family of Nate Wood. In addition to Catherine’s husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Clayton Goolsby.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Following the service, Mrs. Bowers will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery. The family will gather at 200 Chalet Cove, Centerville, Ga.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Catherine to Central Baptist Church, 1120 Lake Joy Road, Warner Robins GA 31088 or Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins  GA 31088.
