The African American Legends and Legacies Celebration — A Church Family Reunion — is at 3 p.m. Feb. 6. Each “daughter” church (Mount Olive, Big Bethel, Friendship, Union Tabernacle and Restoration) will have displays set up. A youth from each church will present a poetic reading from an African-American poet or writer. Rutha Harris, one of the original Freedom Singers from Albany, will tell her story through music. Barbara Edmonds will perform a dramatic skit. A delicious dinner will be served along with a silent auction. Tickets are $20 each. The Christian Family Cluster Circle Ministry hosts the annual Valentine Extravaganza at 7 p.m. Feb. 5 in the church’s Fellowship Hall. Children ages 8 to 18 are invited and Sumter County youth will get a special treat. A spaghetti dinner will be served.
