CORDELE — A graveside service for Sandra Lynne “Sandy” Sheppard Drennan, 68, of Cordele, will be held at 1p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016, at Sunnyside Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Saturday afternoon at Rainey Family Funeral Services.
Sandy was born in Montezuma to the late James Cameron (Bo) Sheppard and Johnnie W. Sheppard. She died unexpectedly at her home Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016. She and her husband Bruce were married for 48 years. They have three children: Jane Cameron Bedore and Johanna Rebekah Masters and her husband, Jack, all of Cordele, and Benjamin Bruce Drennan and his wife, Elizabeth of Pensacola, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Andrew Bedore, Johnathan Bedore, Matthew Bedore and Isaac Drennan. She was preceded in death by her sister, Jane Atkins. She and Bruce lived most of their adult life in Florida. She lived in Cordele for the past 16 years and taught English and Spanish at Crisp Academy for 10 years. For the past five years they have enjoyed retirement.
Sandy graduated from Georgia Southwestern College with a degree in English and did her post-graduate work at the University of West Florida in Pensacola. She and Bruce traveled extensively and spent the last several years boating throughout the panhandle of Florida. She was an avid reader and loved working her cross words and playing with her cats Sadie and Simoneezer.
