AMERICUS – The first United Methodist Church of Americus is planning on holding their fourth annual Home Run event in Americus on June 4.
The event will consist of a 5K run, a 10K run, and a one-mile fun run.
Proceeds from the event will go to benefit the Methodist Home for Children and Youth (MHCY) in Americus.
According to a press release submitted by the MHCY, last year’s event raised more than $10,000 for the organization, which was used to purchase an alarm system and security lights to ensure the safety of the residents as well as provide funds for other activities that help enrich the lives of the MHCY residents.
“The response to the event was heartwarming,” the release stated.
The event will be held in memory of Jay Wiliams, a friend of the home.
Registration for the Home Run races can be completed online at www.themethodisthome.org/homerun5K or in person between 6:30-7:30 a.m. on the day of the race.
The cost for participation in the one-mile fun run is $10 in advance and $15 on the day of the race. The cost for the 5K and 10 K fun runs is $20 in advance or $25 on race day.
