Webster County students win big at CVCC

- Webster County’s delegation to the CVCC Math Competition: Ian Wynn, Caleb Summerall, Nehemiah Johnson, Tyra Green, Anissa Barthell, Jacob Campbell, Xavier Blodgett, Drake Weldin, Brandon Riggins, Destiny Garza, Jacob James, Jayla Hill, Kyra Laney, Mason Rice, Nadia Carrasco, and Tanner Matthews.
COLUMBUS — Sixteen Webster County students attended the Chattahoochee Valley Community College Math Competition and won six out of eight possible awards in Division II consisting of AAA and AAAA schools from Georgia and Alabama.
The team won third place in the Pre-Calculus division consisting of 11th and 12th grade students. Drake Weldin won first place and Anissa Barthell won third place.
The team won second place in the Junior Varsity division consisting of ninth and 10th grade students. Mason Rice won first place and Nadia Carrasco won second place.
Webster County Math Curriculum Supervisor and Teacher Jason F. Williams spoke highly regarding the performance of the participating students.
“Our students enjoy opportunities to compete academically and have the potential to do great things if they continue to desire to be the best!” he said.
