LESLIE — Mrs. Marion C. Miller, 86, of Leslie, Ga., passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 31, 2016. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Leslie Methodist Church in Leslie, Ga. The Rev. Guy Mathis, the Rev. Wade Miller, the Rev. Wesley Kaylor and the Rev. Scott Tucker officiated. The following served as pallbearers: Bruce Colston, Greg Colston, Mike Bird, Chris Bird, Andy Dettmer, and Gary Yawn. The following served as honorary pallbearers: Keith Colston, Larry Tucker, Billy Clark, Fred Dalton, Dick Pace, Floyd Deriso and Doug Cheek. Interment followed at the Leslie City Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 1, 2016, in the chapel at Aldridge Funeral Services.
Mrs. Miller was born on Oct. 6, 1929,in Hawkinsville, Ga., to the late W.W. Carter and the late Mary Elizabeth Williams Carter. After graduating from college, she married Mr. Jack Miller and taught first grade at the Nahunta School in Nahunta, Ga. She and her husband Jack moved to Leslie, Ga., in 1954, where they resided for 62 years. Mrs. Miller was a member of Leslie United Methodist Church and a member of the Leslie United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Town and Country Garden Club in Leslie, Ga., the Council of Safety Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of the National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century.
Mrs. Miller is survived by her husband Jack Miller of Leslie and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Carter; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Miller; and two sisters, Modena McKenny and Wilma Stuckey. Mrs. Miller modeled the Christian lifestyle and was known for her gentle spirit, kindheartedness, and generosity.
