AMERICUS — South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) has been recognized as a recipient of the Georgia Department of Administrative Services Commissioner’s Award for its performance in the FY2016 Human Resources (HR) Audit.
SGTC President John Watford, Ed.D., and SGTC Director of Human Resources Sandy Larson were invited to receive this distinguished award in Atlanta. David Werner, chief operating officer for the state, was slated to make the presentation.
The state recognized SGTC with this award for its model representation in the Classification Management and Performance Management areas during its participation in the FY2016 Human Resources Audit.
“Your staff is to be commended for its diligence in ensuring effective implementation of HR policies and practices that help your organization attract, develop, and retain the talent needed to realize the organization’s core mission,” said Sid Johnson, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Administrative Services.
For the last three years, the Department of Administrative Services has focused its efforts on strengthening the foundation for agency HR functions to support their organization’s performance, capture operational efficiencies, and minimize employment compliance risks. Rolling out the HR Audit was among the key strategies implemented to advance these goals.  The HR Audit will continue to play a key role in ensuring workplace policies and practices foster an engaging and rewarding work experience for employees.
“Again, congratulations on the outstanding performance shown by your organization in the FY2016 HR Audit,” said Commissioner Johnson.
