Learning about the solar system at Sumter ELC

- The Americus Sumter Ninth Grade Academy Math Team participated in the Math Tournament recently hosted by the Math Department of Columbus State University. Math team sponsor, Grace Erra, traveled with 16 students to compete. All of the students participated in both Individual and Ciphering rounds. Students who participated were Janita Terry, Eric Monts, Dalton McGrother, James Blanks, Janell Mills, Tyra Wiggins, Latravious McCrary, Taylor Garcia, Jasmine Holmes, Jasline Campbell, Lorena Garry, Brandon Ohm, Charnesha Battle, Asia Cladd, Benteel Roberson and Nancia Hall. There were about 28 schools that participated in the tournament from in and around Columbus, Georgia. Outstanding individual and school performances were recognized during the awards ceremony. Americus Sumter Ninth Grade Academy faculty, staff and administrators are proud of Brandon Ohm who won a trophy for scoring highest in the Ciphering round for Division III category. It was a fun day for students with numbers and reasoning at Columbus State University.
