AMERICUS — South Georgia Technical College’s (SGTC) newest student organization, the Veterans Club, recently held a meet and greet mixer for prospective members to learn more about the organization and meet advisors and officers.
Veterans from both SGTC’s Americus and Crisp County Center campuses attended the meet and greet, and listened to comments from club advisors, officers, and SGTC faculty and staff while enjoying refreshments. Guests were welcomed to the meet and greet by Assistant to the President Don Smith, Director of Career Services Cynthia Carter, Registrar Julie Partain (School Certifying Official), Veterans Club Faculty Advisor Phil Deese, Admissions Coordinator Kari Bodrey, and Veterans Club President Jeff Register of Ellaville.
Meet and greet guests were also able to talk to SGTC Academic Dean David Finley and SGTC Aviation Maintenance Technology instructor Charles Christmas, both U.S. veterans.
“Our Veterans Club will be partnering with other veterans and organizations across the Technical College System of Georgia and area American Legion Posts,” said SGTC Director of Career Services Cynthia Carter, who added that SGTC currently has 31 veterans enrolled. “They deserve our help to speed entry into Georgia’s world class workforce. Combining the valuable training and experience they have gained through the military with some quick and affordable additional training at SGTC will be the ticket to opening the door to great civilian careers.”
