Malora W. Billington: June 8, 2016

WINDSOR, Conn. — Malora Wright Billington, 82, of Windsor, formerly of Hartford, beloved wife for 55 years of Clyde M. Billington Jr., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at St. Francis Hospital. She was born June 16, 1933, in Lee County, Ga., to the late Roosevelt Freeman and Martha (Laramore) Wright. Malora was a longtime member of Hopewell Baptist Church where she was a member of the Jordan Choir. She was a former member of the Democratic Progressive Women’s Club and was very into politics, including her support for Hillary Clinton. She loved to play bridge, was an avid fisherwoman and loved sports, especially the New York Yankees, Cleveland Cavaliers and the Cincinnati Bengals. Malora had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh, but most of all loved her family and cherished her time spent with them. She was the last surviving member of the Wright family siblings.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Desarie Wright of Windsor, Ishmael Wright of Fort Washington, Md., Clyde M. Billington III and his wife Felicita of Hartford, Christal Anderson and her husband Dallas of Hartford, Courtney Billington and his wife Lisa of Branchburg, N.J.; sisters, Perry and Rose Smith; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. She was predeceased by her siblings, Elnora Kearse, Alta Ball, Roosevelt Freeman Wright Jr., Willis Wright and Roger Wright.
A Homegoing celebration will be held on at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 18, at Hopewell Baptist Church, 280 Windsor Ave., Windsor. Interment will follow in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Her family will receive friends on fro 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 17 at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. They will also receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, prior to the service at the church.
