AMERICUS — Clyde Reece Hill, 72, of Americus, died Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at his home in Americus, Ga.
A memorial service is planned for 10 a.m. July 9 at Gentian Baptist Church in Columbus, Georgia, with Pastor Jimmy Mcllrath officiating.
Mr. Hill was born June 20, 1943, in Grenada, Mississippi, to Clyde Hill and Doris Geraldine King. He served in the U.S. Army from September 1960-1963 and received an honorable sischarge. He spent the next 30 years as an employee of Georgia Power Co. He was a lineman, crew leader and foreman. He was known for his hard work, dedication and attention to safety. He was transferred to Americus in 1994, and retired in 1999. He spent years coaching Little League baseball and Pop Warner football in Columbus, and he was a mentor to many. Mr. Hill was an active member of Britt David Baptist Church, in Columbus, Ga., for many years volunteering his time with the youth group. He moved his membership a couple of times and was a currently a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia. He loved hunting, fishing and Fox News.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Ann Hill and his father Clyde Hill and mother Doris King Houston. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Shepherd Hill; one daughter, Terri A. Norwood and husband, Charles, of Hartselle, Ala.; one son, Clyde R. Hill Jr. and wife, Stacie, of Columbus Ga; five grandsons, Robert A. Juric and Jelsey, David A. Juric, Matthew A. Juric and Krista, Clyde Reece Hill III, and Blake Hill; and five great-grandchildren.
