ATLANTA — Calvin Hassel Parker, 87, died at peace on Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016, at DeKalb Medical Center in Atlanta. A native of Georgia, he was born Oct. 25, 1928, in Americus. He was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church, a retired 33-year store manager for Goodyear, and a veteran/paratrooper of the United States Army. He volunteered as a clown for the Sumter Shrine Club and was a member of the M.B. Council Lodge No. 13 F&AM.

A cancer and heart attack survivor, he enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved fishing, hunting, dining at Daphne Lodge, going to Daytona, and attending air shows. His funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016, at Bethel Baptist Church. The Rev. Steve Golden will officiate his services and burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

His life’s journey will be cherished by his two daughters: Lisa Logue of Gainesville and Linda Keene of Lady Lake; a son, Wayne Parker of Cobb; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his parents, Lydia Patrick Parker and Eston B. Parker; and his wife, Betty Rose Berry Parker.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 846 Lane Store Rd., Americus, GA 31709.
