LAKE BLACKSHEAR — Lester Eugene “Gene” Malcom Jr., 70, of Lake Blackshear passed away Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. A graveside funeral service was held for Mr. Malcom at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, at Ty Ty First Baptist Church Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. Dr. Bryan Bentley officiated. A celebration of life was held in the church social hall immediately following the graveside service.

Tommy Massey, Damon Harper, Johnnie Smarr, Jeff Allison and Eddie Sklany served as pallbearers.

Born June 27, 1946. in Tift County, Mr. Malcom was the son of the late Lester Eugene Malcom Sr. and Sara Dell Brown Malcom. He was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation and the Georgia Army National Guard. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Cobb/Lake Blackshear and a member of the Americus Planning and Zoning Board.

Mr. Malcom is survived by his wife, Doris Mauldin Malcom of Lake Blackshear; one son and daughter-in-law, Curtis Lee and Laurie Malcom of Homerville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and Tim Barnes of Camilla and Gina and Calvin Defenbau of Americus; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
