AMERICUS — Agrium Inc., a global leader in agricultural products, services and solutions, focuses its efforts on helping growers increase crop yields sustainably – so that together they can provide more high-quality food to a rapidly growing population.  They expanded that mission recently to help feed the minds as well as the bodies of our local student population by endowing another scholarship at South Georgia Technical College (SGTC).
“At Agrium, we believe that collaboration, innovation and commitment are the keys to improving the lives of today’s and future generations,” said Ron Henderson, Agrium Rainbow Operations manager in Americus, when he presented SGTC President John Watford, Ed.D. with a check to endow another scholarship at South Georgia Tech.
“Agrium is proud to be a long-time supporter of South Georgia Technical College.  Many of our employees were born and raised in Sumter County, and it is our privilege to be able to assist the community that we have been in for so many years,” added Henderson. “Agrium has a special focus on youth and education so this contribution to South Georgia Technical College is important to us. We wish you all the best this academic year, and for the years to come.”
“On behalf of South Georgia Technical College and the South Georgia Technical College Foundation, I would like to thank Agrium for partnering with us,” said SGTC’s Watford. “This is a tremendous support to our students and we are very pleased that Agrium is assisting with the growth of our community and workforce through this educational scholarship opportunity.”
This is the sixth endowed scholarship that Agrium has sponsored over the past five years and it is a tremendous boost to the students served by SGTC.
“Agrium is about growing the future. Our company is driven by growth, whether it is to improve the performance of crops that feed the world responsibly, or our business. South Georgia Technical College is in the business of growing individuals into an educated workforce, so we believe that this is a natural fit for our company to support,” added Henderson.
Watford reiterated his appreciation to Agrium and added, “partnerships like this one and others are crucial to our success.  Your investment in an endowed scholarship will continue to give back to our students indefinitely.  We appreciate what you are doing in our community.  hank you again for recognizing the value of the educational opportunities that we are able to provide to our students.”
