AMERICUS  — Johnny H. Bird, age 93, of Americus, died Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016, at Magnolia Manor. He was born May 30, 1923, in El Dorado, Arkansas, to the late Harry H. Bird and Annie Mason Bird. He was a member of Porterfield Methodist Church in Albany, a U.S. Navy World War II veteran, and worked as a plant superintendent for Union Oil Co. for 35 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Kelly Bird; and a daughter, Linda Wright.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016, at Oak Gove Cemetery in Americus. The Rev. Keith Parks will officiate the service.

Survivors include his son, Michael Bird and his wife SuAnn C. Bird of Americus; a daughter, Ellen Bird of Clanton, Ala.; and a sister, Margarete Ann Bigelow of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Also surviving are six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
