Reminder of Ellaville’s Christmas Parade and Hoopla
This is a special reminder for the annual Ellaville Christmas Parade and Holiday Hoopla.
This will be held on Thursday, Dec. 8. The parade begins at 6 p.m. After the parade, come to the Park for the second annual Holiday Hoopla, and Santa Claus will be in the courthouse across from the park. Events are from 6:30-8 p.m.
McCorkles have family reunion
On Saturday, Nov. 19, Billy and Elene McCorkle hosted their annual McCorkle Family Reunion at their home.
Elene cooked so many of the main dishes with other family members bringing in other delicious dishes as well.
There were 20 family members present, including the hosts. All family members look forward to this special event on Saturday before Thanksgiving.
Phillipses celebrate golden anniversary
On Nov. 25, Jimmy and Marianne Phillips were honored with a lovely 50th anniversary party given by their daughter and son-in-law Anne Marie and Kevin Devane. This special event was held at 6:30 p.m. at The Station in Americus.
Jimmy and Marianne were married at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 25, 1966, in the Ellaville United Methodist Church. They were married by the Rev. Brooks Partain of Americus.
All guest enjoyed a delicious meal along with a 50th anniversary cake.
Those that attended and helped celebrate were Wilbur and Vicki Justice, Joe and Iris Menendez of Greely, Colorado, Glen and Kim Lawhorn, Lewis and June Lightner, Mickey and Stephanie Holloway, Charlie and Robbieanne Woolbright of Cordele, Charles and Carlyn Kirby, Vangie Sanderlin of Americus, Johnny and Nell Wall, Tommy and Olivia Mallichek, Burnette and Carol Streetman, George and Marie Kennedy of Ashburn, Maggie and Mary Kate Streetman, T.J. DeVane and host for this special occasion, Kevin and Anne Marie DeVane. All names that do not have a town after their names are from Ellaville.

Pilcher have big Thanksgiving with family
Sammy and Mary Nan Pilcher are always so happy when all of their children come home on special occasions like Thanksgiving.
Their daughter Cynthia and husband Mike Sanseverino and their girls Kayla and Sarah Sanseverino came from Parkland, Florida, for the Thanksgiving holidays with Sammy and Mary Nan. Other family members joined everyone for Thanksgiving Day at the Pilchers’ home.
Those that were there were Alan, Sharon, and Andy Miller; Tommy Pilcher, Dave, Carla, Ben, Clifford, andTrina; and Anna Rae Murray. They all enjoyed the delicious meal that Mary Nan cooked for Thanksgiving.
On Friday Cynthia and her daughters, Sharon Miller, and Mary Nan Pilcher traveled to Griffin to shop at the Sock Shop and several boutiques along the way.
McMaths celebrate 55th wedding anniversary
Bobby and Nancy McMath Young just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on Dec. 1.They were married on Dec. 1, 1961, at St. Simons Island.
This year, they did not have a big party like they had when they celebrated their 50th anniversary.
There were family and friends who visited off and on during the day and night for the special occasion of their 55th.
Bobby and I thank all of you for the special memories that we’ve shared with all of you throughout these 55 years and more. Bobby and I send to all of you our love and appreciation for being such great friends now and always.
