AMERICUS — Charles Albert Cartwright, age 67, of Americus, died at his residence Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016. A native of McRae, he was born Sept. 18, 1949, the son of Carson and Thelma Cartwright. Mr. Cartwright was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed his garden and sharing it with others. His pride and joy were his three grandchildren. He loved riding them on the golf cart and feeding the fish when they visited.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016, at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel with the Rev. William Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5 at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel and at other times, at  193 Dogwood Hills. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Scott Law Foundation, 205 E. Lamar St., Americus GA  31709.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Mary Scott Cartwright of Americus; two sons, a daughter-in-law and a son’s fiancé, Matt and Kristi Cartwright of Warm Springs, and Ty Cartwright and Mandi Gibby of Albany; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lane and Billy Pritchard of Cummings and Laurene and Danny Jones of Gainesville; a brother and sister-in-law, Jake and Leona Cartwright of Americus; and three grandchildren, Anniston Cartwright, Camdyn Cartwright and Cason Cartwright. He was preceded in death by a sister, Gerri Gibbs and two brothers, Howard Cartwright and Keith Cartwright.
