A word from Sumter Cycling: Free winter warm-up ride
Published 8:21 am Thursday, January 19, 2017
Did you make a New Year’s resolution to shed a few pounds gained over the holidays? Is it time to work on your fitness in 2017?
Sumter Cycling has just the answer…a winter warm-up ride to get you back on track. Join bicycle riders of all ages and abilities on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 11:00 a.m. There will be three rides available with distances of 12, 30 or 72 miles. Beginning at the school complex on Bumphead Road in Sumter County, cyclists will head out at their own pace. Although riders will be responsible for their own fluids and snacks, items will be available for purchase along the course at gas stations and/or quick marts during the 30 and 72 mile routes. Be sure to bring some spare change, if desired. Additionally, SAG (support and gear) support will be available in the event a rider needs assistance.
All three routes can be viewed at the following site:

There is no registration fee for this event. Simply show up at 11:00 ready to ride. There will be, however, a colorful t-shirt for all riders, regardless of the distance chosen that day.
This warm-up ride is the kick-off of Sumter Cycling’s 2017 monthly “First Saturday” rides. Check the website for locations and times.
Remember, you must wear a helmet and ride with, not against, traffic.
Be safe and see you on the road!
