Americus-Sumter High students compete in region

MOULTRIE — Two Americus-Sumter High School (ASHS) agriculture sducation students recently traveled to Moultrie to compete in the FFA’s Area 5 Regional Creed Speaking Leadership Development Event. Jarious Greene ASHS by competing in the Extemporaneous Speaking category. Riley Veal competed in the Creed Speaking category.
“This event was a learning experience for me,” said Green. “The extemporaneous speaking competition gave me a better understanding of what speaking is all about. I got a lot out of going.”
Veal said he was nervous at first, but eventually felt comfortable making his presentation. “At first I felt pressure,” he said. “There was an incredible amount of tension in the air. Everyone seemed nervous.”
ASHS ag teacher, Brandon Gross said both students handled themselves very well. “These two young men exhibited verve and composure throughout the competition,” he said. “I am quite proud of them.”
