Clifford Eugenia (Tour) Jackson, born march 30, 1928, died May 19, 2017, at age 89 in the Heart of Georgia Hospice Inpatient Care Unit in Perry, Georgia. Clifford resided in Americus, Georgia, and was recently predeceased by her husband, Jesse James Jackson, whom she was happily married to for 71 years. She was married to James for only ten days when he shipped out with the U.S. Marines in World War II not to return for three and a half years. She was retired after working as a supervisor at Manhattan Shirt Factory in Americus, Georgia for thirty five years. Clifford and James enjoyed their home and gardens of Daylilies in Americus for many years in their retirement. Always a petite and perky lady, Clifford wore her “high” heels constantly only giving them up when the family resorted to hiding them from her for her safety as her illness worsened. Neighbors even reported seeing her doing yard work while wearing “high” heels at age 80!

Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 25, 2017, at 11:00 AM at Smithville City Cemetery with Rev. Thomas Mason, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 24, 2017, from 6:00 until 7:00 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Dr., Warner Robins, Georgia  31088 or Leslie United Methodist Church, 111 E. Allen St., Leslie, Georgia  31764.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Nancy Jackson and a granddaughter, Mekensie Jackson. Clifford was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Louise Jessup of Smithville, Georgia and all four of her younger sisters and brothers.
