AMERICUS – Georgia Southwestern State University men’s golfer, Ethan Chamineak, was named to the 2017 NCAA Division II PING All-Southeast Region team by the Golf Coaches Association of America on May 23.
Chamineak, a recipient of the award for the second consecutive year, joins Craig Gibson (2010, 2012) on the list of Hurricane golfers to earn All-Region accolades in multiple seasons.
Chamineak turned in a very successful senior campaign, finishing in the Top-five on four occasions over nine events. The Thomson, Ga., native was a 2017 Peach Belt All-Conference first team selection and earned PBC Player of the Week honors twice during the 2016-17 school year.
His third-round score of 66 on Sept. 20 at the 17-team Jay Jennison Cup in St. Augustine, Fla., tied for the second-lowest single round (relative to par) in the conference this year. He finished runner-up at the Jay Jennison Cup and tied for second place at the 18-team McDonough Cup (Oct. 31-Nov. 1) in Orlando, Fla., and again at the eight-team Hurricane Invitational (April 3-4) in Albany. His 72.88 scoring average was lowest on the team and ranked fourth in the PBC.
A total of 107 players across eight regions – East, Atlantic, Southeast, South, Midwest, South Central, Central and West – earned PING All-Region honors for 2017.
