COLUMBUS — Mr. Billy Gene Cagle Sr., age 78, of Preston, Ga. died Thursday, June 8, 2017, at Gentiva Hospice in Columbus, Ga. A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2017, at the Preston City Cemetery in Preston, Ga. The Rev.  Joel Fussell and the Rev. Raymond Smith will officiate. A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Aldridge Funeral Services.

The following are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers: Lewis Gunnels, Christopher Rymer, James Priest, Bill Raybon, Chico Raybon and James Weaver.

Mr. Billy Gene Cagle Sr. was born July 16, 1938, in Chatsworth, Ga., son of the late Homer Cagle and the late Mae Huffman Cagle. Mr. Billy served 20 years in the U.S. Army and 20 years with the Civil Service. Mr. Cagle was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Cagle of Preston, Ga.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne Weaver (James) and Mona Mims Berryhill (Brian); four sons, Larry Cagle (Angie), Billy Cagle, Allen Cagle and James Priest; five sisters, Louise Withrow, Shelby Rymer, Juanta Powell, Shirley Johnson, and Shirlene Brown; one brother, David Cagle; nine grandchildren, Chad Hudson (Courtney), Kacye Raybon (Bill), Codey Weaver (Hannah), Ashton Cagle, Aaron Cagle, Austin Cagle, April Cagle, Madison Berryhill and Emily Lane (Dillon); four great-grandchildren, Olivia Miller, Lexi Raybon, Gavin Halstead, and Edyn Lane. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Cagle is preceded in death by three sisters, Virginia Collins, Rosie Byse and Christy Gray; and two brothers, Hanzel Cagle and Harold Cagle
