A word from Sumter Cycling: Local cycling club hosts free rides

Published 3:00 pm Tuesday, June 27, 2017

Sumter cycling provides free organized group rides each month on Saturday following the Americus First Friday festivities. The distances vary, along with the speed, depending upon those who turn out for the event. There are distances and rates for all levels of experience. The only requirements are that each rider wear a helmet and come with a desire to have fun. Children are welcome when accompanied by a parent/guardian.
The starting location is determined by the group leader, but typically the rides begin and end in or near downtown Americus. Start time is generally 9:00 a.m.
Mark your calendar for the upcoming rides:
Saturday, July 8 and Saturday, August 5.
Prior to the July 8th ride, be sure to stop by the Sumter Cycling booth at the Americus First Friday “Beach Party” celebration at Rylander Park from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. There you can check out the new T-shirt and yard signs which highlight Georgia’s Three Foot Law. Also available will be bicycle safety handbooks and information about Sumter Cycling.
