ELLAVILLE, Ga. — Mr. Charles Emmett Hart, age 74, of Schley County, Ga., went home to be with his Lord Monday, July 3, 2017 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Ga. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 6, 2017, at Friendship Baptist Church, Ga. Highway 30, Americus, Ga.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The Rev. John C. Brooks, Jr. will officiate.

Mr. Hart was born May 16, 1943. in Sumter County, Ga., the son of the late Isaac Scott Hart and Lucy Grace Snider Hart. He was a lifelong farmer and co-owner and manager of Fresh Plants Inc. Mr. Hart was a member of Friendship Baptist Church where he served as chairman of the Deacons and Song Leader.  Mr. Hart served as president of the Americus Camp of Gideon’s International, secretary of Sumter Electric Membership Corporation board of directors, and was immediate past president of the Georgia Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association. Mr. Hart loved his wife, children, and delighted in his grandchildren.

Survivors include his beloved wife for over 53 years, Linda Wilson Hart; two sons, Chip Hart and wife, Sheri of Orlando, Fla., Phil Hart and wife, Leslie of Ellaville, Ga.; daughter, Mandy Chambers and husband, Billy of Leesburg, Ga.; two sisters, Mima Owens of Statesboro, Ga., Scottie Hughes of Dublin, Ga.; one brother Scott Hart and wife, Virginia of Moultrie, Ga.; six grandchildren, Trent Hart, Brennan Hart, Gage Hart, Tom Hart, Lucy Hart , Madyson Chambers, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Neil Hagerson, Boyd Hagerson, Bill Douglas, Joe Prospt, Billy Woods, Lloyd Gay and E.D. Hart. Board of directors of the Sumter EMC and the Americus Gideon Camp will serve as honorary pallbearers.  Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home, Ellaville.
