JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — Mrs. Judy Jarrett, age 75, passed away on Friday morning, July 14, 2017, at Sunrise at Johns Creek in Johns Creek, Ga. Her family wishes to give special thanks to the staff of Sunrise at Johns Creek for the exceptional level of care given to Mrs. Jarrett.

Funeral services are planned for 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., with the Rev. Bill Dupree officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends between the hours of 1 and 3 p.m. on Thursday afternoon at Hancock Funeral Home preceding the services.

Born Dec. 31, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Charles D. Shaddix and Gladys Lathrum Shaddix.

Mrs. Jarrett graduated from Gadsden Alabama School of Trades in 1964, and after relocating to Americus, began employment in 1974 as a nurse at Magnolia Manor where she worked for 31 years until her retirement.

She was baptized in 1949, and was a devout Christian all her life. Mrs. Jarrett attended Shiloh Baptist church with her husband until her health prevented her attendance.

She was well-known in her community for her greenhouse where she grew tomato plants in the spring, and she is especially remembered for growing orchids which she would give as gifts to friends and neighbors.

She and her husband enjoyed spending time at their mountain cabin in Blairesville, Ga.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William Edward “Ed” Jarrett, and by her sister, Joan Anne Shaddix Hughes.

Survivors include her son, Ed Jarrett and his wife Lynne; grandson Travis Turner and his wife Brooke; brothers: Sonny Shaddix and Carter Shaddix; and nieces and nephews: Denise Hughes Richardson, Hope Hughes, Joy S. Woods, Lyndy Shaddix, Alan Shaddix, Dawn Shaddix, Deborah Shaddix, and Amanda Shaddix.
