AMERICUS – Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) head women’s basketball coach Kelly Britsky announced that 5-foot-11 forward Amanda Melosky has transferred from the College of Central Florida to play for the Lady Hurricanes in 2017-18.
Melosky, a two-year starter from Wesley Chapel, Fla., appeared in 59 games for the Lady Patriots, starting 44. The Mid-Florida First Team All-Conference selection averaged 9.7 points and 6.8 rebounds per game in her two-year career, averaging 11 points per contest as a sophomore.
“We are excited to have Amanda join our program,” Britsky said. “She is a bulldog of a player. She is a kid who will get on the ground after loose balls, picks up big-time rebounds and is a threat from outside.”
Britsky added, “She’s the kind of kid every coach wants to have on their team.”
Melosky recorded eight double-doubles while at CF and scored 10 or more points on 24 occasions. The Florida College System Activities Association & Mid-Florida Conference All-Academic honoree recorded career-highs against North Central Missouri as a freshman, scoring 25 points and grabbing 16 rebounds.
“Amanda is intelligent and plays with heart,” Britsky said. “Overall, a great athlete, student, person.”
Melosky played her prep ball at Wiregrass Ranch High School where she was a two-sport athlete, playing soccer and basketball. She eclipsed the 1,000-point scoring mark her junior season and was a two-time First Team All-County (2014, 2015) selection while receiving All-State honorable mention honors her senior year.
