H.B. Carlton: Aug. 10, 2017

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Mr. H. B. “Bucky” Carlton, age 78, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, at his home in Birmingham, Ala.

Funeral services are planned for 3 p.m. CST on Saturday, Aug. 12, at Liberty Church in Birmingham. The family will receive friends between the hours of 2 and 3 p.m. on Saturday at the church. Pastor Bruce Terry will officiate. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. EST on Sunday, Aug. 13, in Oak Grove Cemetery in Americus, Ga.

Born Jan. 22, 1939 in Moultrie, Ga., he was a son of the late James Franklin Carlton and Carrie Dell Taylor Carlton. He was a music teacher at Colquitt County High School in Moultrie, Ga., and a pastor at Liberty Church in Birmingham. He held a master’s of science in music education from Georgia Southern College and a doctor of ministry from Christian Life School of Theology.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Edwards Horne Carlton; one son, Tom Carlton (Lisa); three daughters: Fran Horn, Martha Grooms (William), and Carrie Mullins (Scott); two brothers: James Carlton and Gene Carlton; four sisters: Helen Peacock, Edith Murphy, Rebecca Evans, and Mary Diver; and eight grandchildren.
