AMERICUS — Mrs. Grace Albritton, age 98, passed away on Monday afternoon, Aug. 14, 2017, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center.

Funeral services are planned for 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 16, from the graveside at Sunset Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Hugh DeLoach officiating.

 

The family will receive friends between the hours of 1 and 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday in the fellowship hall of Central Baptist Church.

Born Jan. 16, 1919, in Schley County, she was a daughter of the late Frank Lewis Allmon and Mary Elizabeth Harvey Allmon.

Mrs. Albritton was a cosmetologist, having owned and operated her own beauty parlor for 60 years in Americus, from 1937 through 1998. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and the Kathleen Gardner Sunday School Class at the church, and was a member of the Early Bloomers Garden Club and the Pilot Club of Americus.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by her two sons: Larry Albritton and Gwynn Albritton; by her brother, Finis Allmon, and by two sisters and a brother-in-law: Kathlene “Kat” and Bill Bohn, and Christine Austin.

Survivors include one brother-in-law, Harold Austin of Americus; one sister-in-law, Nettie Allmon of Macon; four grandchildren: Angie Woodall (Ron) of Hiram, Ga., Paige Albritton of Hiram, Ga., Jeff Albritton of Acworth, Ga., and Jim Albritton (Jenice) of Acworth, Ga.; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
