ELLAVILLE, Ga. — Mrs. Mary Powell Miles, 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Andrew Stucker and the Rev. Hugh Harbort officiating. Burial will follow in Andersonville National Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Miles, lovingly known as Granny, was born March 25, 1930, to the late Allmon and Inez Powell in Schley County, Ga. She was a devoted member of Shiloh Baptist Church and a member of the Dorcas Sunday school class. Granny loved to work outside in the yard and spend time with her family, especially her great-grandson, Collin. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Oscar Miles; a brother, John Vernon Powell; and four sisters, Olivia Barfield, Eugenia Jarrell, Nell Robinson and Inez Robinson.
Survivors include her daughter, Jane Barksdale and her husband, Billy of Americus, Ga.; a granddaughter, Michelle Landers and her husband, Keith of Ellaville, Ga.; a great-grandson, Collin Landers of Ellaville, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
