AMERICUS — Henry Bishop Jr., 86, of Andersonville, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at Perfect Care in Americus. A native of Sumter County, he was born Nov. 4, 1930, to the late William Henry Bishop Sr. and Opal Freeman Bishop. He was the owner and operator of Reliable Roofing Co., enjoyed gardening, and raising his livestock.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, at Freeman-Hardin Cemetery in Andersonville. At other times, the family may be contacted at the home of Bill and Kathy Bishop, 202 Smith St. in Americus.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Gail and Tom Williams of Fort Valley, and Robin Purvis of Virginia; five sons and three daughters-in-law: Bill and Kathy Bishop of Americus, Greg Bishop of Andersonville, Blake and Rhonda Bishop of Tallahassee, Fla., Ricky Bishop of Fort Valley, and Jason Faircloth of Americus; 14 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Keith Bishop; and a sister, Thelma Satterfield.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Salem United Methodist Church, 942 Upper River Road, Americus GA 31709.
