Ellaville Methodist Church having annual Barbecue, Bake Sale
Ellaville United Methodist Church is having its annual Barbecue and Bake Sale from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. today, Oct. 28.
Barbecue is $7 a pint and all cakes are different prices.

Joanne Byrd honored with bridal shower
The women of Ellaville Baptist Church hosted a lovely bridal shower for Joanne Byrd, who recently become the bride of David Byrd Jr. of Ellaville.
The shower was held from 3-5 p.m. Oct. 8 in the Social Hall of the church. The gift display tables were covered with white linen tablecloths. There were three round serving tables covered with white linen tablecloths.
The center piece for the middle table was a large tiered pedestal with a cupcake design as a wedding cake and a wedding emblem on top to look like a wedding cake. The next table had as a center piece a large candle surrounded with ivy. Finger foods were served from this table. The third table was centered by the punch bowl which was surrounded by ivy.
The bride received many gifts from this special occasion.
Early voting continues for city election
Early voting for the Ellaville City Election, scheduled for Nov. 7, continues from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays through Nov. 3 at 49 N. Pecan Street.
The candidates for mayor are incumbent David Theiss and Leah Ellis Clark. Jason Hoch is running unopposed for City Council District 1, and Charles Sherwood is running unopposed in District 3.
Smoke on the Square Cook-Off a success
The second annual Smoke on the Square Barbecue Cook-Off in Ellaville was a success. There were 22 teams that entered competition. Winners won $1,875 in prize money.
The Overall Champions Trophy went to “Ramblin Dawg Bar-B- Que” team consisting of Brent McCarty, Allen Smith, Wes Smith and Jim Bennett. This team also won First Place in the Rib Category.
The Reserve Championship went to Brandon Albritton and Cory Robinson of “B’s Bar-B-Que” also won 2nd place in the Pork Category.
Third Place Overall went to William Gray of “Bay Shore Porkers.”
Fourth Place Overall went to Mike Wohrley of “Rack-N-Butts.”
Fifth Place Overall went to Brian Barnhill of “B&W Bar-B-Que.”
The following contestatns placed in the “Chicken Cook-Off.”
First Place went to Brian Layfield of “White Water Smokers.”
Second Place went to Mike Wohrley of Rack-N- Butts.”
Third Place went to Tucker Harris and “Two Guys and A Pig.”

Sponsors for the Smoke on the Square were Chad’s Paint & Body, and Schley County Foundation. They appreciate all the other sponsors as well for helping make this such a big success.
Ryan Brown and Jason Hoch were in charge of the committee that organized this special event.
There were 27 other vendors with items to sell. Late afternoon and evening, everyone enjoyed the live entertainment from Megan Fowler, Liz Faith and Simon Sez.
