Juvenile arrested in bus shooting

AMERICUS — A 16-year-old juvenile has been arrested in a school bus shooting in Americus.
According to a press release from the Americus Police Department, police responded shortly before 7:30 a.m. Monday to Rucker Street in response to an aggravated assault involving a Sumter County School bus on Masonic Street.
Officers learned from the bus driver that a front passenger-side window had been shattered from a possible BB gun pellet. No one on the bus was injured and an investigation was initiated, according to the release.
On Thursday, police arrested a 16-year-old, charging him with aggravated assault, interference with government property, and reckless conduct. He was taken to the Crisp County Regional Youth Detention Center (YDC).
The Americus Police Department appreciates all the citizens who provided information in this case, according to the press release.
