AMERICUS — Mrs. Lynda Sue Cortelyou Melton, age 60, of Americus, Georgia, passed away early Tuesday morning on Nov. 28, 2017, at her residence. Visitation will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, with a memorial service immediately following at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral Services. The Rev. Lawrence Wiggins and the Rev. Mark Carter will officiate.

Mrs. Melton was born on Nov. 15, 1957, in Long Beach, California, to the late Robert Layton Cortelyou and Helnburma Bowles Cortelyou. Mrs. Melton was a homemaker and a member of Salem United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, David Melton; her mother, Helnburma Cortelyou; five daughters and sons-in-law, Beth Reeves (Jerry) of Youngsville, Louisiana, Shelley Buchanan (Thomas James (TJ) of Crestview, Florida, Cadie Satterfield (Brad) of Perry, Georgia, Savannah Lumpkin (Zoe) of Milledgeville, Georgia, and Judi Steelman of Winston-Salem, N.C.; three sons, Dave Melton (Lindsey) of Americus, Georgia, Michael Ragsdale (Kristy) and John Ragsdale (Catherine), both of Winston-Salem, N.C.; four grandchildren, Catherine Wooden, Grace Gilbert, Addison Reeves and Collins Elizabeth Lumpkin due in January 2018.

Mrs. Melton was preceded in death by her father Robert Layton Cortelyou and her brother Robert Paul Cortelyou.
