AMERICUS — Jill Forehand has been chosen as the Americus-Sumter High School (ASHS) Teacher of the Month for October 2017. Each month one ASHS teacher is selected to receive this award for exhibiting exemplary service to students and parents. Assistant Principal Todd Vickery presented Forehand with the award during a ceremony in the ASHS library last week.
Forehand has taught English for 17years, 11 of which have been at Americus-Sumter High. She has a bachelor of science in psychology and master’s and specialist degrees in education, all from Georgia Southwestern in Americus.
She expressed gratitude for being recognized by the school.
“I’m honored and flattered to be chosen” she said. “Honestly, I’m more surprised than anything since many other ladies in my department are rather impressive teachers.”
