ALBANY — John Tommy Bonner, 80, of Americus died Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. He was born Aug. 14, 1937, in Riverview, Alabama, to the late Curtis Akins Bonner and Berta Pauline Gill Bonner. Mr. Bonner was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. He was an avid fisherman, loved gardening, yardwork, and Atlanta Braves baseball.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017, at Salem United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Carter and the Rev. Lawrence Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Memory Gardens, 120 Old Pretoria Road, Albany. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m. at the church. At other times the family may be contacted at the home of Debbie and Steve Brown, 1664 Upper River Rd. in Americus.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Dolly Ann Bonner of Americus; a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Steve Brown of Americus; and a son, John Tommy Bonner Jr. of LaGrange. Also surviving are two brothers and a sister-in-law: Jim Bonner of Eufaula, Ala., and Bob and Pat Bonner of Atmore, Ala.; seven grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Curtis Lee Bonner; a brother, Buck Bonner; and a sister, Betty Gaddy.
