PLAINS — Mrs. Louise Everett Smith, age 97, passed away on Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, at Sumter Retirement Village in Plains.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at Plains United Methodist Church, with Brother Lee Smith and Pastor R.T. Beverly officiating. Due to weather conditions, the committal service was held in the church, with a private interment following.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Plains United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 219, Plains GA 31780.

Mrs. Smith was born Aug. 9, 1920, in Webster County, a daughter of James William Everett and Bertha Mae Witt Everett. She was a retired beautician, and an active member of Plains United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Charles W. Smith Sr.; one sister, Susie Mae Stephens; and five brothers: William Lawrence Everett, James T. Everett “J.T.”, Edward C. Everett “Eck,” Clarence C. Everett “Coley,” and Oliver C. Everett “Ott.”

She is survived by one son, Charles W. Smith Jr. (Penny) of Plains; two daughters: Charla S. Williams (Ken) of Braselton, Ga., and Janet Porch (Johnny) of Plains; four grandsons: Charles W. Smith III (Tracy), Jason Mitchell (Holly), Branden Smith (Hollis), and Justin Smith (Emily); five great-grandchildren: Chase Smith, Hannah Mitchell, Riley Mitchell, Olivia Smith, and Davis Smith.
