AMERICUS — Mr. William L. “Bunky” Stewart, age 82, passed away on Saturday morning, Jan. 6, 2018, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 8, from the graveside at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Born Aug. 24, 1935, in Ellaville, he was a son of the late Eugene Stewart and the late Elizabeth Smith Stewart. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was retired from the grocery industry, having worked in management positions at Winn Dixie and Glover Wholesale. Mr. Stewart was a member of Faith Baptist Church. He was a true family man who dearly loved his family.

Survivors include his loving wife, Gladys Jordan Sutton Stewart, of Americus; his children: William L. “Bill” Stewart Jr. (Cindy Tallman) of Albertville, Ala., and Sherry Stewart Baker (Thomas) of Jonesboro; his stepchildren: Charles Standridge of Americus, and Kathy Sutton Vann (Larry) of Columbus; grandchildren: Ray Allen Weeks Jr. (Melissa) of Jenkinsburg, Ga., Patricia Holcomb (Brandon) of Albertville, Ala., and Vicky Vann Paul (Keith) of Midland, Ga.; great-grandchildren: Kaedin and Riley Weeks, Carson Holcomb, Luke and Libby Paul, and Maggie, Abby and Cailee Standridge; sisters-in-law, Pat Stewart of Starke, Fla., and Faye McCrary (Nelson) of Americus; brothers-in-law, Robert Jordan of Albany, and Gene Jordan (Gwen) of Americus; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; by one brother, Bowman Eugene Stewart; and by two stepdaughters: Susan Sutton Standridge and Peggy Sutton Davies.
