Lady Hurricanes end losing streak with win at Augusta

AUGUSTA – Georgia Southwestern State junior guard Kris Beckham scored 14 points to lead the Lady Hurricanes to a 64-52 win at Augusta University last Saturday.
The Zebulon, GA native went 6-of-11 from the field against the Lady Jaguars. It was the second game in a row that Beckham scored in double-figures, having scored 12 points against Flagler.
The first quarter belonged to Augusta as the Lady Jaguars shot 6 of 17 from the field, while GSW made 4 of 17 shots. By the end of the first period, Augusta had a 17-11 lead.
GSW came alive in the second quarter, shooting 58.8 percent from the field. Beckham hit two three-pointers to help GSW take a 36-28 halftime lead.
The Lady Hurricanes continued stay hot in the third quarter, outscoring Augusta 22-12 to take a 20-point lead.
Neither team shot the ball well in the fourth quarter, but GSW maintained a 61-50 lead with 2:13 to play. That was as close as the Lady Jaguars would get.
The Lady Hurricanes’ defense was able to force Augusta into committing 16 turnovers, while GSW turned it over just 10 times.
