McCorkles to celebrate 60th wedding anniversary
A special 60th wedding anniversary celebration will be held for Billy and Elene McCorkle on March 18.
This special event will be held from noon-2 p.m. Sunday, March at Ellaville United Methodist Church in the social hall after the church service.
William McCorkle and Bobbie Snider are hosting this special celebration. All friends and family are invited to attend

Ellaville Rainbow Garden Club takes trip
The Ellaville Rainbow Garden Club met Feb. 21 at Massey Lane Camellia Gardens in Marshallville. After a short meeting and lunch, the Club enjoyed a tour of the beautiful gardens.
Many members visited the Gift Shop and had the opportunity to purchase potted camellias.
Members that went on this trip were Angie McMickle, Julia Whitteahagen, Olivia Mallichek, Carol Streetman, Judy Gattis, Faye Frazier, Darlene Lewis, Anne Brock, Sonja Farrell, Sandra McDaniel, Dedra Gilley, Estelle Bush, Martha Harrison, Elaine Barwick, Evelyn Stembridge and Mary Ellen McCorkle.

Schley County CTAE students heading for State Competition
Several members of the Schley County High School’s Career Tech and Agriculture Education programs will be competing at the state level this month.
Schley County High School teacher and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) sponsor, Tera Cheek, said her students have already competed and excelled at the regional level and will soon
travel to Atlanta March 23-25 to compete against thousands of students from all over Georgia.
Cheek also said she is “excited to have the opportunity to take these students to competition once again.”
Over the past four years Schley County ‘s FBLA Chapter has won the Sweepstakes Trophy for having the most wins in the region three times, even while competing against much larger schools.
“I am very proud of the hard work and commitment our FBLA students put into representing Schley County High School,” Cheek said, adding that she expected some of her students to advance  to the National Competition.
Cheek thanks Ameris Bank and People’s Bank for their generous donations this year.
The students who earned the right to compete are listed with their event in which they will compete. Some will talented enough to qualify for two events.
