Southland Lady Raiders Tennis Team defeats Crisp Academy

AMERICUS – The Southland Girls Tennis Team scored a big win Tuesday, March 13, when they defeated Crisp Academy 4-1 in a home match at Southland Academy.

“We played really well. I was very pleased with our play today,” Southland Tennis Coach Rusty Tondee said. “

Southland’s Susanna Fowler, the team’s number one singles player, fell 6-10 to Crisp Academy’s Katherine Carpenter. However, that was the only loss for Southland. Alex Exum defeated Ella Faircloth 10-4. Maddy Copeland defeated Eliza Hill 10-1.

In doubles action, The Southland duo of Leslie Ann Farr and Ada Ruth Larsen defeated Crisp Academy’s duo of Hannah Sims and Maggie Bullington by the score of 10-4. In the final doubles match, T.J. Bowden and Madalyn Strickland defeated Alla Hurt and Elizabeth Williams 10-4.

“I definitely need to improve on my serve,” Alex Exum said. “I feel that the points that my opponent won were me beating myself.”
