Federal judge halts Sumter County Board of Education election as part of May 22 Primary

AMERICUS — The candidates for seats on the Sumter County Board of Education will have to wait until at least the Nov. 6 General Election to have a chance to be elected.

Judge Louis Sands of the U.S. District Court in Albany issued an order Friday afternoon halting the board of education election as part of the May 22 Primary Election until new district lines are drawn and approved.
