AMERICUS – On Monday, March 12, Southland Academy baseball and basketball standout Harrison Bell signed a letter of intent to play baseball at the University of South Carolina Beaufort.

USCB is an NAIA school that competes in the Sun Conference. USCB Head Baseball Coach Jeremy Christian and his assistant, Zach Roberts, are in their second year at USCB. Prior to coming to USCB, the two coaches helped lead Point University to the NAIA College World Series.

Harrison is very thankful for the opportunity he’s been given. He required surgery after last season to remove a small piece of bone from his elbow. He has made a full recovery and is enjoying his senior year with the Raiders. “I am thankful that my parents and coaches have helped me throughout the years,” Bell said. “I couldn’t have made it this far without them always encouraging me and instilling in me the importance of having a good work ethic. Mostly, I’m thankful that God has given me the ability to play and enjoy the game of baseball.”

Coach John Brady echoed Bell’s importance of a good work ethic. “Harrison is a great kid,” Brady said. “He has worked very hard to get to this point. We look forward to seeing him do great things at the next level.” Southland Athletic Director Clint Humphrey said that Southland is proud of Harrison and wish’s him great success next year.
