ALBANY — William Clyde Daniel, 77, of Leesburg, died Monday, June 4, 2018. at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. A native of Fitzgerald, he was born Aug. 15, 1940, to the late Clyde Daniel and Maude Morgan Daniel. He was a member of Leslie United Methodist Church. He worked both as an independent pharmacist and for CVS Pharmacy. He also faithfully served the city of Leslie for many years as mayor pro-tem and on the volunteer fire department. He was a United States Army veteran and an avid supporter of the Boy Scouts and was an Eagle Scout.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 8, 2018, at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel in Americus. Chaplain William C. Daniel Jr. will officiate the service. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 4 p.m., Friday, June 8, 2018, at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, June 7, 2018, at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel.
Survivors include his faithful companion of 20 years, Shelvia Jean Hudson of Leesburg; two sons and daughters-in-law: William Clyde Daniel Jr. and his wife Rebekah of St. Marys and Matthew Paul Daniel and his wife Hannah of Leslie. Also surviving are his sister, Patricia Kapphahn; and six grandchildren: Annesley Daniel, Amie Daniel, Alister Daniel, Asher Daniel, Adrianna Daniel, and Luke Daniel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mike Daniel; and a grandson, Caleb Daniel.
