Union High School Class of 1978 holds 40th Reunion

LESLIE — Union High School Class of 1978 40th Class Reunion was held on Friday, June 8 and Saturday, June 9 at the Leslie Civic Center (old Union High School Cafeteria), Leslie.
The Reunion kicked off on Friday night with an awesome get re-acquainted, fish fry, fun and games. There was a DJ and photographer on the scene. The reunion culminated on Saturday night with a banquet with a brief review of Union High School through the years, classmates’ recognitions, rewards, life reflections, and a memorial tribute. There was a solo and singing of the Alma Mater and acknowledgement of the following teachers that were in attendance: William Powell, Mary Comer, Margaret Mathis, Maxine Stribling, and Mae Bell Thomas. Each of the teachers that were in attendance spoke highly of the class. William Powell, eldest of the teachers, spoke some very inspiring and uplifting words.
The entire reunion weekend was very spiritual, heartfelt, and very emotional. There was a lot of laughter, rekindling old memories and relationships, and reminiscing. It was a reunion that will be unforgettable and cherished for a life time!! “Let’s Go Yellow Jackets Let’s Go”.
The Reunion Planning Committee included Regina Watts, president; Rosa Lewis, vice president; Rudine Harris, vorrespondence secretary; Connie Whitehead and Eddie Alford, treasurers; Eddie Alford and Regina Watts, chaplains; Jessie Milledge, catering chair; and Carolyn Hurley, decorating chair.
