AMERICUS — Ronald Dillard Bryan of Americus died Thursday, July 12, 2018, at his home. He was born June 6, 1946, in Americus to the late Nedium Dillard Bryan and LaVilla Margaret Paradise Bryan.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, July 16, 2018, at Andersonville National Cemetery with the Rev. Rick Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2018, at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel in Americus.

Mr. Bryan was a member of Central Baptist Church, an avid hunter and fisherman, and a lifetime member of the NRA and VFW. As a U.S. Army combat veteran, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, and a Sharpshooter Rifle badge. He received his associate’s degree in computer programming from Crandall Junior College, and worked as a correctional officer at Macon State Prison and later retired from Sumter County Correctional Institute.

Survivors include his companion of 24 years, Tricia Johnson of Americus; three daughters and two sons-in-law: Tiffany and Rence Cheek of Hawkinsville, Rita and Russ Dunaway of Warner Robins, and Donna Morgan Kitchens of Americus; a sister and brother-in-law, Gale and Dennis Brown of Milledgeville; and nine grandchildren: India Margaret Cheek, Clare Frances Cheek, Bryan Bledsoe, Reed Dunaway, Bradley Kitchens, Morgan Kitchens, Bailey Gaultney, Will Johnson, and Saylor Johnson.
