State BOE OKs waiver for Sumter County Schools for CCA

ATLANTA — Mike Cheokas, 2nd District Georgia State Board of Education representative, announced that the Georgia Board of Education approved the strategic waiver necessary for the Sumter County School System to establish the College and Career Academy.
Cheokas said in his press release, “I was honored to make the motion in the District Flexibility and Charter School Committee to approve the language necessary for the Sumter County School System to create the College and Career Academy. And was equally honored that the Board Item was approved unanimously at our monthly meeting. This is a very important addition to the total education of our youth. The Academy will provide our students with the skills necessary to enter the work force more quickly with good paying jobs or move on to a college to continue their education as a second or third year student … ”
