Thomas E. Dunmon Sr.

BUENA VISTA — Thomas “Ted” Ellis Dunmon Sr., age 86, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018, at Magnolia Manor of Marion County. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018, at Union United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Joy Wilson and the Rev. Bill Harris officiating. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Dunmon was born on Sept. 9, 1932, in Americus, Ga., to the late Clarence William Dunmon and Mattie Lou Hunnicutt Dunmon. He served in the Georgia Army National Guard for 33 years before retiring as a lieutenant colonel in Dublin, Ga.

He was a member and officer of the Masons and Al Sihah Shriners. He was an active member of Union United Methodist Church in Marion County. Throughout his life, Ted was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed woodworking and working on his small farm outside Buena Vista.

Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Janie Hancock Dunmon; his four children, Thomas E. Dunmon Jr. and his wife, Kathy of Dunwoody, Ga., Donald G. Belcher and his wife Carla of Tennille, Ga., William L. “Bill” Dunmon and his wife Michi of Bonaire, Ga., and Robert A. Dunmon and his wife, Susan of Bella Vista, Arkansas; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Pam Law of Americus, Ga., and Lucille Powell of Warner Robins, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Masonic Children’s Home, P.O. Box 4183, Macon GA 31208 or to Union United Methodist Church.
