Sumter County 4-H’er, John Ayden Gorton, grew the largest watermelon for the Georgia 4-H’s 2018 Watermelon Growing Contest. He grew a watermelon weighing 168.6 pounds! As the state winner, he won a cash prize, trophy, and a t-shirt. John Ayden is the son of John and Kori Gorton and a student at Sumter County Intermediate School.
