Americus-Sumter High School football game moved to Saturday

AMERICUS – The Americus-Sumter Panthers (2-4, 2-2) were scheduled to host a Region 1-AAA game against Northside-Columbus tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Alton Shell Stadium. However, due to the situation with the recent storm caused by Hurricane Michael, that game has been moved to Saturday, October 13, at 12 p.m.

The game will still be played at Alton Shell Stadium on the campus of Americus-Sumter High School. The Panthers come into this game having lost two-straight region games. They fell last week at Columbus by the score of 40-22 and lost to Hardaway 23-20 on a field goal in the closing seconds on Friday, September 21.

Currently, the Panthers are in a three-way tie for third place in Region 1-AAAA with Columbus and Westover. The Panthers, along with Columbus and Westover, have region records of 2-2. Columbus will be at Shaw tonight. Shaw has a region record of 2-3. Westover will be at Carver this evening. Carver is second place in the region with a region record of 4-1. Cairo is a top the region standings at 5-0.

Kickoff between the Panthers and Patriots is scheduled for 12 p.m. Saturday, October 13, at Alton Shell Stadium. As far as other area teams, Southland and Schley County will both be home tonight. Southland hosts Valwood at 7:30 p.m. at Harvey Simpson Stadium at Southland Academy, and Schley County will host Macon County tonight at 7:30 p.m.
